About the practice

It is always difficult when you need medical help in a country where you do not peak the language fluently and do not know the healthcare system well Perhaps you have lived in Portugal for some time, you are there often or maybe you are here only on holiday. In all cases, when it comes to your health, it is nice to be helped by someone who speaks your own language (or 4 other languages) very well. Doctor Folmer and his team make every effort to provide you with the best possible personalised medical assistance during your stay in Portugal.

The practice is independent, i.e. not affiliated or owned by other (commercial) health institutions. This allows, in consultation with you, to always choose the most appropriate care for your situation.

The practice is set up according to the Dutch model. Doctor Folmer was trained as a (general) physician in the Netherlands and works mainly according to Dutch protocols. He updates his professional knowledge largely through Dutch refresher courses. In addition, he is registered as a doctor with the Portuguese doctors’ organisation “Ordem dos Médicos”, which also keeps him up to date with Portuguese practices.

The practice is open five days a week. Doctor Folmer can be reached by phone, mail and whatsapp.

Consultations are possible during opening hours, home visits or e-consultations (by phone or online) outside opening hours.
